The students went on a field trip to the aquarium and were fascinated with the different types of fish. The project was inspired by this field trip and was based on their favorite fish they saw. The project uses a technique called paper quilling and it makes for an interesting 3D 'painting'. The students learned a lot about color theory. The outline of the fish was the complimentary color to one of the inside colors. The inside of the fish uses the compliment of the outline and the second color is an analogous color. I had a few students who wanted to use more than two colors in the center and they were aloud to... as long as they could pass the color theory test!
